CLAUDIA FLOWERS JOINS QUESTEX AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT - CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT
Newton, Mass. -- August 16, 2007 -- Questex Media Group, Inc. is pleased
to announce that Claudia Flowers joins the Company as Executive Vice President
of Corporate Development effective August 27, 2007. In this role, Ms. Flowers
will be responsible for corporate development activities, which include
acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. She will be based
in Questex's New York office.
"As we continue to execute our strategy of organic launch and development
and acquisitions, it is clear there are many opportunities for continued growth
and development in the business sectors we serve and in attractive sectors we
don't yet serve," said president and CEO Kerry Gumas. "In the last
18 months, we've made eight acquisitions of publishing, event, digital media
and research businesses, so it is evident we have a strong acquisition focus
and see it as a vital element to our corporate strategy. In addition to
acquisitions, we have also successfully launched 15 new magazines, events and
digital media products collaborating with a wide variety of partners. Claudia
has a remarkable track record in the btob industry and developed a strong network
with numerous media companies and their leaders. She is a great addition to our
team and will enable us to accelerate the process of uncovering new growth opportunities."
Prior to joining Questex, Ms. Flowers was Executive Vice President of American
Business Media, the association for business information companies. In this position,
Ms. Flowers was responsible for bringing in over 170 new member companies growing
total membership by over 50%. She also was responsible for the Professional Development
Group and expanding the reach of the association globally.
Ms. Flowers is a veteran of the business media industry, having held senior-level
executive positions at The McGraw-Hill Companies, The Thomson Corporation and
Wolters Kluwer Health.
Before joining ABM, Ms. Flowers was CFO for the Medical Research Group, a division
of Wolters Kluwer, a global subscription-based information services company which
provides information tools for professionals in print and online.
Prior to joining Wolters Kluwer, she was V.P. and Associate Managing Director
for The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc., where she participated in numerous M&A
deals and oversaw the investment bank’s advertising and marketing efforts.
Prior to that, she was V.P of Finance for The Thomson Corporation. Ms. Flowers
spent a large part of her career at The McGraw-Hill Companies, where she rose
to V.P. of Operations for the Information Technology & Communications Group.
A former chairman of ABM’s Strategic Finance and Operations Committee and
member of the Business Press Educational Foundation and Marketing Committees,
Ms. Flowers holds a B.A. degree from Fordham University. She completed the Advanced
Leadership Forum at the Media Management Center at Northwestern University.
